Outstanding: RZB Awarded EcoVadis Silver Medal
Early this year, RZB's EcoVadis Sustainability Rating leapt from Bronze to Silver, ranking us among the top performers that make up just 25% of the 100,000+ companies assessed.
Leading international rating agency EcoVadis verifies and assesses companies' performance across 21 criteria covering four areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Sustainable Procurement, and Ethics. The agency's methodology is based on leading standards such as DRI. UNGC and ISO 26000, and is supervised by an international scientific committee.
Compared with last year, RZB surpassed the benchmarks in all areas – particularly Environment – thanks to initiatives such as:
New product design rules on component recycling and exchangeability.
Sustainable packaging concepts using paper and/or transitioning to recycled plastics.
Contracts with service companies for the sustainable disposal and take-back of components.
We have made our products more energy efficient and environmentally friendly by stepping up the use of sustainable energy in our manufacturing operations, with renewable energy sources, heat recovery and green electricity procurement at our Bamberg site. Our environmental and climate-protection responsibilities are fully integrated in our Code of Conduct, along with our ethical values for supplier selection, and our commitment to anti-corruption and to preventing conflicts of interest. These areas were also included in the EcoVadis rating, and our efforts have been rewarded with a silver medal.
We are working tirelessly and proactively to improve environmental protection at RZB, including by listening to our customers' wishes and requirements as well as ideas from our committed workforce.
