RZB featured in new book on major german companies
To mark its 60th anniversary the Rat fuer Formgebung (German Design Council) has published a book titled Die großen deutschen Marken [Major German companies] comprising portraits of more than 60 successful, design oriented German companies and their histories. Among the companies portrayed in the book is the internationally active lighting fixture vendor RZB, which is headquartered in Bamberg.
An exclusive gala dinner was held in Berlin in late October to mark the publication of Die großen deutschen Marken [Major German companies]. Among the reasons for holding the event in Berlin was to evoke the official parliamentary remit of the Rat fuer Formgebung (German Design Council), which, since its founding in 1953, has devoted itself to raising public awareness concerning the economic and cultural importance of product design.
Bundestag President Norbert Lammert noted the following concerning the Council’s commitment to product design, and publication of the 60th anniversary book: “For six decades the Rat fuer Formgebung (German Design Council) [...] has been successfully promoting the interests of company and design development in Germany and has been strategically promoting up and coming talent. [...] I congratulate the Council on its 60th anniversary and hope that this book will be widely read, as it takes us on a journey through the history of various design worlds, is reflective of the past six decades, and adumbrates future developments.” The book also contains informative essays (in German) with titles such as Design im Dienste der Wirtschaft (Design in the service of business), Markenmehrwert durch Design (Creating value through design) and Marke & Mitarbeiter (Companies and their employees).
